January 24, 2004 - July 23, 2004

Hello, My name is Orion Dean Renke. I was born on January 24, 2004 at 11:35am, and I weighed 6lb 10oz, and this is the story of my life. Now in order to tell the whole story I'll have to go back a little bit.

You see it was about 11pm at night on January 23rd, and I heard my dadddy tell me that if I was born on Saturday that he would get the whole weekend off from work. Now since I haven't even met my father yet, I didn't want to start off by disappointing him, so I decided that today was the day to head out (pardon the pun).

Now daddy rolled over and fell asleep and was snoozing pretty hard, mom on the other hand woke up about 1am and started tossing and turning, which eventually woke up dad. Mom and dad decided to get up and take showers while they were waiting and before long we were all headed to Rose Medical Center (RMC), which was several miles (about 30) past the Platte Valley Hospital in Brighton CO.

We arrived at RMC at about 4am and were sent up to the third floor where the nurses started testing mommy and doing what they could to help her with the pain. Nanna even showed up to help wherever needed. Mommy and I got into the jacuzzi tub for awhile, which felt really good except during the contractions. Mommy was getting really tired and so we all decided that an epidural would be the best thing for mommy, after several pokes and prod's mommy was flying high and was able to rest a little. I think I even heard Daddy snore, he must have been resting too.

At about 10:30 the nurses decided that it was time to start pushing and so everyone jumped in to help, with Daddy and Nanna for support, Mommy pushed and pushed as hard as she could. Dr. Johnson decided that a little suction would help so with each push she gave a slight tug until finally my head popped out. Dr. Johnson cleaned my mouth out and my eyes. The first thing I saw was this huge hairy guy with a really big goofy smile. After a couple more pushes I was out and suddenly I realized just how cold & bright it was. I kept asking to be put back, but no one would listen.

More to come Thank You for reading my journal but I'm getting sleepy so I'll add more tomorrow 8/2/04
