Andrea Kay Smith was born on February 7, 1969 in Denver, Colorado. She was raised in Commerce City, Colorado where she graduated from Adams City High School in 1987. In 1986, while still a junior in high school, she joined the Army Reserves and attended Basic Training at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. In May of 1987, she attended Data Telecommunications school for the Army at Ft. Gordon, Georgia. She was in the Army Reserves until 1991, when she transferred to the Colorado Army National Guard. She attended Intelligence Analyst school at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona in 1992 and earned her Sergeant's stripes. When not in training or attending drill weekends for the National Guard, she worked as an engraver and attended Metropolitan State College of Denver. On New Year's Eve 1997, she met Timothy Cole Hough and they were married October 6, 2001. Andrea was honorably discharged from the National Guard in 1999 and currently works for the United States Attorney's Office in Denver, Colorado.
